Welcome to Ellie Hopley Coaching!
LETS GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER……
I’m not going to give you a sob story of my life, but want to give you a background as to where my intentions for helping you and my experience come from.
I have battled with mental health issues since the age of 7, an eating disorder, an extremely unsettled childhood and some abusive relationships. I have experienced major life events, the loss of a child, birth of a child, marriage and subsequent divorce, the divorce of my parents, the death of my father and sexual harassment in the workplace.
Partly to do with the environment I was brought up in and the events and situations I have experienced I built up a belief system about myself which meant I found it difficult and almost impossible at times to take care of myself. In fact when faced with stressful and emotional situations I have instead self sabotaged.
I developed coping mechanisms, behaviours and habits, which caused my physical, mental and spiritual be neglected to varying degrees. This way of living held me back from achieving my full potential and having the kind of relationships I truly desired.
However, it was during some of the darkest times that I have learnt the most about myself. I realized that the methods I use for coping are not healthy and in fact serve to only further perpetuate my beliefs and keep me in a vicious circle. So I finally decided, it was time to break that circle and change my life.
I wanted to find a system that was simple and easy to use, step by step, every day and share it with other people as I know for A FACT I am not alone in this spiral of ill health and neither are you – no matter how much you may feel you are at times.
It may be that you don’t feel you are mentally in a bad place – you may be happy and feel confident, but lack focus and drive or feel like you aren’t achieving your potential. There may be other areas of your health, which, if you gave them the right attention, could propel you, further in your career, relationships or goals!
I’m Personal trainer with my own business. I work with clients everyday who want to be fitter, stronger, look better and feel better about themselves. But what most people don’t realise when they begin is that they will very rarely succeed at changing their lifestyle and becoming physically healthy without working on and educating themselves about the other essential elements of their health. The other elements of mental health and spiritual health are in fact intrinsic to the way they approach their fitness and physical goals and vice versa.
Some of the most common phrases and barriers to change I hear on a daily basis are; “I can’t do that”, or “I don’t have time for that”, or “I can’t afford it” which you would expect when hearing people talking about taking part in exercise. However, I also regularly hear things like, “I’m so stressed”, “I feel stuck in a rut”, “I’m unhappy in my relationship/job”, “It’s so hard being a parent”, “I struggle with an eating disorder”.
I believe that it is essential for people to be educated about how to look after themselves, to learn to nurture their goals and dreams, have a deep sense of their self worth and be confident in their ability to make a difference in the world. We all have the potential to be great!
No one is exempt from ill health. Health is a gift, which is given to us as humans to be physically, mentally and spiritually aware, yet we choose to disrespect ourselves, under educate ourselves and simply not allocate time to work on our health.
Being unhealthy can stop us from being good parents, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, and employees and most importantly from enjoying a sense of peace and calm within ourselves. You are after all, not able to escape from yourself - you are in relationship with yourself forever. So, working on being content with yourself is something that should be given time and importance.
Being unhealthy can prevent you from achieving your goals and dreams, from achieving your true potential. It can hold you back from making a difference to your life, to your family and to the world. You have to decide to make time to invest in yourself.
If you choose to embrace the fact that you want to change, I will explain in more detail the THREE principles upon which I base the elements of overall health. I will also show you how looking after them individually every day can make a difference to your relationships, self esteem, financial freedom, parenting, life expectancy and ultimately into a happier, more peaceful person.
Question: Do you have children? Do you take great care over them, nuture them, love them everyday? Immediately when they are ill you take them to the Dr’s and feel helpless and worried as to what could be wrong? Do you worry about your sister, brother, parents or perhaps you have a animal you cherish or possessions you value beyond words?
Why is it that so many of us choose to place such importance others, yet neglect our own health to the extreme and even persistently take part in activities, relationships or situations that do us harm? We must love ourselves and value the gift of health, which is ours to protect and respect.
I challenge you to work through this method and see for yourself how “healthy” you actually are.
You see, each element effects area of your life, which are without doubt important to you! Frequently cited priorities such as bills, mortgage, childcare, housework, time with family and friends, studies, relationships, hobbies etc. will inevitably take precedence over your individual health and well-being. However, it is the level of your overall mental, physical and spiritual health that will determine how much time, energy and thought you are able to give these important parts of your life. Not only that, but they underpin your ability to cope with and manage daily life.
At those times in your life when you face such periods of pain or hardship it is imperative to be as physically fit, mentally strong and spiritually healthy that you can be in order to deal with all that life throws you.
I know from experience with clients that many people have no idea how unfit they actually are until they start training with me, or how bad their diet is until they know what it feels like to have more energy and better sleep when they eat well.
It is for this reason I developed this system, as I have faced many periods of intense pain in my life and tried to run away from it, block it out with bad habits or simply have no interest in taking care of myself, when in fact that very act of self preservation and self value would get me through.
Do you aspire to be more happier? To be able to build better at relationships with your parents, siblings or partners? Do you wish you were a better parent? Then you need to work on all aspects of your health and these things will become easier and more attainable to you. A healthier person will always be more successful, more at peace, stronger, more able to have meaningful relationships with others as they will value themselves and this will affect all areas of their life.
Don’t forget however, that as you work on your health you will begin to recognize unhealthiness in others and helping others recognise their own unhealthiness will be a key to affecting those around you in a positive way.
After all, there is a saying on aeroplanes during the safety briefing before take off….“Be sure to adjust your own breathing mask before helping others.” If you do not value yourself enough to take responsibility for yourself first you will no doubt continue to put your own health at risk.
“Love yourself first, care about how you feel - and all else will fall into place”
Thank you for signing up.
